If you think this sounds like something you’d find in a theme park or amusement arcade, you’d be wrong. Happily, we say. This experience takes place in a £10-million full-motion flight simulator, at a professional airline Training Centre where all the pilots do their own training.

Your visit lasts anything from 1 to 4 hours depending on the type of Flight Simulator Experience you book. When you get there, you’ll be met by one of our experienced instructors (all pilots), who like nothing better than to fly with you on their days off. There’s Ben who taught Eddie Izzard to fly, Pete, GB’s youngest ever pilot and Simon who’s taught aerobatics and formation flying on the Bulldog. No matter. They’re all cool. Before you start they’ll give you a 30-minute pre-flight briefing and then the cockpit’s yours.

You’re the Captain. You choose where you go and what you fly. There’s a varied fleet of modern Airbus and Boeing flight simulators and you can challenge yourself with a flight into Innsbruck in a snowstorm, or a scenic descent into the Caribbean at sunset. It’s up to you. There’s a whole world out there.

OK. Imagine yourself on the flightdeck… one hand on the controls, the other on the thrust levers, bumping over the runway lights as you taxi into the take-off position. Feel the immense power pushing you into your seat as your jet airliner tears down the runway, and the slight sinking in your stomach as you raise the nose and lift your almighty aircraft into the air. Take one last glance at the city falling away beneath you as you cut through the clouds into the clear blue sky above.
